Young Toronto commuters can snap up the best priced housing in the area in Brampton according to a real estate brokerage.
Justo Brokerage has revealed the full lowdown on Brampton in its special online guide. The area has around 170,000 semi-detached homes, row houses and apartments and 90,000 of these are single family homes and the average priced are $744,950 while the average prices in Toronto are $832,70.
A spokesman from Justo Brokerage said: “A 10th of houses in the Great Toronto area are actually sold in Brampton. It is a very popular and upcoming place and a perfect location for those who want good quality and cheaper housing to be able to commute into the city.
“Brampton started out in 1853 with just 50 registered residents. The town started to really grow in the 1980s, with low rise housing popping up over the area. Between 2011 and 2016, Brampton grew by 13%. It now has more than 600,000 residents. It is estimated that there will be more apartments and higher density housing in the area moving forward.
“It is a diverse community and one of the most multi-cultural in the area. 50% of the people living there speak English and 43 per cent are south Asian. There are also Filipino and Latin America communities in the area.
“The work opportunities are vast in Brampton, including many IT and life sciences companies. It also has Amazon, Rogers and CN Rail headquarters within its borders.
“There are several parts to Brampton, including Brampton North, Bramalea, Heart Lake, Mount Pleasant, Peel Village and Northgate. Brampton North is famous for its lush green spaces and park areas. Bramalea has a huge shopping centre – more than 1.5 million square metres in size. And Northgate has a 65-acre spring water lake.
“Brampton has a good network of bus routes throughout the area, but many amenities are not walking distance – depending where you are in the area – so people who live in Brampton largely rely on driving for their day to day needs.
“The city has been classed as a very safe are to live by the World Health Organisation, which is a big selling point for people looking for a home. And for those who like to dine out, Brampton’s selection of Indian restaurants is second to none and there are some very authentic restaurants offering excellent food and this is all thanks to the area’s large South Asian population,” he added.
