Canada – November 23, 2021 – Laser Wellness is helping both men and women to achieve improved health benefits using their own blood.

WHAT IS PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma, also known as PRP, is a relatively new cell-based regenerative therapy that uses platelets (blood cells) themselves to promote the natural healing process of damaged tissues and organs, as well as promote the rejuvenating effect of the skin, alopecia, and many other areas of medicine.

PRP is also known as autologous conditioned plasma, a platelet-rich concentrate of whole blood plasma that is centrifuged to separate plasma from red blood cells.

This new biotechnology involves injecting concentrated platelets back into the body, into damaged ligaments, joints and tendons, to aid tissue repair; on the scalp to stop hair loss and promote hair growth, and on the face to correct scarring and rejuvenate the face (vampire face).

PRP was developed over 20 years ago and was originally used in periodontal therapy, orthopedics and sports medicine. But in recent years, it has become more and more popular in the field of dermatology. The skin and hair industry has recognized the benefits of using PRP for acne scar treatment, wound healing, fat grafting, skin rejuvenation, and hair growth.

In a typical blood sample, blood is composed of 93% red blood cells, 6% platelets, and 1% white blood cells. After centrifugation of the blood, most of the red blood cells are removed, resulting in a platelet concentration of 94% and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) 6% of the red blood cells. It is these high levels of growth factors and cytokines that help rejuvenate and heal tissues. A platelet concentration of approximately 1 million platelets / μL, which is 5 times the normal platelet concentration, has been shown to be effective in wound healing and tissue repair.

Platelets contain a large store of more than 800 proteins that, when secreted, act on many targets, including stem cells. Fibrinogen and leukocytes are other important components of PRP. The benefits of PRP are associated not only with platelets, but also with a combination of growth factors and components.

PRP Hair Loss Treatment

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) has become a proven treatment for androgenetic alopecia. Many patients have had great success with this hair loss therapy in the clinic. Androgenetic alopecia, also known as male pattern baldness (MPHL) and female pattern baldness (FPHL), is a common chronic hair loss condition that affects both men and women. It is characterized by progressive hair loss and affects up to 80% of men and 40% of women. PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is an autologous preparation of platelets in concentrated plasma from your own blood. Current PRP methods show an accumulation of 300-700%, followed by an increase in the platelet concentration to over 1,000,000 platelets / l.

Hair loss clinics began using PRP in dermatology after researchers discovered that high levels of platelets in plasma cells can promote hair growth by lengthening the hair growth phase. Our PRP specialist will take your blood and spin it in a centrifuge to separate platelets and plasma. Plasma is injected with a micro-lancing device into the scalp where hair loss has occurred. It usually takes at least 3 months for the condition to improve. Most clients, both men and women, can expect a 25-40% increase in hair loss. PRP therapy for baldness works best if you fail within 5 years or so. It is more difficult to awaken hair follicles that have been inactive for a long time.

A recent study found a significant reduction in hair loss between the first and fourth injections. The number of hairs increased from an average of 71 hair follicle units to 93 hair follicle units. Thus the average increase is 22.09 follicular units per cm2.

PRP For Skin Rejuvenation

Skin Rejuvenation using PRP has become one of the more popular cosmetic procedures in aesthetic medicine.  PRP is a safe, cost-effective, effective treatment for facial rejuvenation which includes wrinkles, scars, sun damage, age spots, and dark circles under the eyes.  Reversing the sign of aging and getting regenerative effects is possible using platelets and growth factors from your own blood. Post treatment effects shows a tighter, more radiant skin.

PRP works to:

  • Improve dull skin tone
  • Improve skin texture
  • Increase collagen production
  • Reduce wrinkles
  • Enhance skin elasticity, tone, and thickness
